I wanted to see the animals... That was it... The original plan was to land in Malawi and head north through Tanzania's Serenghetti and Ngora Ngora crater then to Kenya's Masai Mara wild life areas - with a hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. What I didn't count on was Malawi not having a diplomatic relationship with neighboring Tanzania. What does that mean to me? A long bus trip to Mozambique (south) to get a Tanzania visa to then turn around for a long bus trip back north. I decided if I was already going south - keep going. To the Okovango Swamp in Botswana. I had seen a coffee table book on it once and it looked appealing. Also in Botswana we would get in a mokkoro (dug out canoe) and camp out with a Kalahari bush guide. I found out in Kenya and Tanzania you had to stay in your vehicle. It was a no- brainer for me. Lake Malawi, Hwange and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe - the Okovango swamp in Botswana are where these images were taken.
